Nature’s cure for animals

Gone are the days when homeopathy was a last resort for the treatment of sick animals, says North Taranaki animal homeopath Jillian Cooper.

Homeopathy is a complementary treatment that can be used as well as, rather than instead of, conventional veterinary care, Ms Cooper says.

Each year she attends the National Fieldays at Hamilton’s Mystery Creek as an agent of Homeopathic Farm Support, which was established by Rural Women New Zealand 2010 Enterprising Rural Women Award winner Tineke Verkade.

”At the Fieldays now people don’t walk past and laugh,” Ms Cooper said. ”They want to find out about homeopathic treatment – they’ve heard about it, or maybe their neighbours use it.”

Her homeopathic Clinic At Ambience, at Lepperton, was the first point of treatment for some customers with sick animals, and others were referred by veterinarians.

Homeopathic remedies worked because they stimulated the body’s natural ability to heal itself, based on the principle of ”like heals like”. Read more
